    Glee or How I Met Your Mother
    Date / Time : Friday, April 10, 2015 / 11:19 PM
    Hello there!

    So I literally just finished watching How I Met Your Mother. I've been watching since Leptis Magna Chalet somewhere mid-March and now I'm done with 9 seasons. No, don't ask me how. I don't know either. But it was a lovely show, and I cried a bit somewhere in the 9 seasons too!

    But March also brought the end of Glee, which is terribly sad to watch. I do admit I haven't actually watched Glee until the beginning of this year. No, seriously. I've always known of Glee and loved the songs, but I've never actually watched the actual show until 2015. And I love it ♥ I love every part of Glee, right down to the boring moments.

    I love HIMYM, but I love Glee more. While most people would choose otherwise, I'm actually a larger Gleek than I'll ever be a ... I don't know what fans of HIMYM are called. I'm sorry.

    //

    Why do I like Glee? They talk about ALL (almost, not all) the sensitive topics in such an amazingly sweet and touching manner. Well, except for Coach Beiste (Dot Jones). I hate Ryan Murphy for that.

    Glee talks about acceptance, and the courage to be whoever you want to be. The difficulty in coming out as a lesbian for Santana (Naya Rivera) because she's always been that strong-headed bitch who sleeps around with males. Only to realise, that she's in love with her all-time best friend, Brittany (Heather Morris).

    It talks about pushing through your limits and giving the things you never knew you could do, a try. It's Kurt (Chris Colfer) giving his all to compete for the solo part of Defying Gravity with Rachel (Lea Michele) despite being a guy and having a great difficulty hitting the high notes. But he did it, in the most amazing rendition of Defying Gravity ever.

    Glee is all about confusion and feelings sometimes. C'mon, how do you expect to find the perfect one on the first try in reality. How can you not stumble around in high school (or even after), dating here and there to find the right one? Glee is not about "messy relationships" and keeping track of who's dating who. It's about being real to your feelings.

    But most of all, Glee deals with loss, failure, difficult times, chasing dreams, and growing.

    //

    I'm not saying that HIMYM isn't good, I'm just saying that Glee deals with more close-at-heart issues (for me) as compared. Sure, HIMYM deals with many possible situations in friendships, love and life. But that's what many shows deal with these days. So many.

    And it's easy these days to deal with LGBT these days. But it wasn't easy to deal with LGBT in 2009. But Glee did, and dealt with all aspects of LGBT. You want lesbians? Britana (Santana + Brittany). You want gays? Klaine (Oh god Kurt and Blaine♥♥♥). You want bisexuals? Quinntana (Quinn + Santana). You want transexuals? Wade Unique Adams.

    HIMYM deals with so much about life, adult life. But Glee deals with growing up, through school and chasing dreams. I'm not at that age where I'm bothered about who I'm going to marry. I'm at that age where I'm bothered about reaching that dream, and how far I am willing to go to achieve that dream.

    And that's why, I'll always prefer Glee over How I Met Your Mother.

    Seasons of Love. A lovely tribute to the late Cory Monteith.
